One year after planting the lavender our farming venture came to an end.
This was our last weekend spent at Kranzberg Lavender Fields as the farm was sold.

Summer morning
Early morning summer day at Kranzberg Lavender Fields. Orchard and
lavender coming well out of winter, all we need now is rain.
A family of Damara Dik-Dik at the water hole. Did you know that this tiny antelopes mate for life?

Wildlife at Kranzberg Lavender Fields
In 2016 Namibia had the worst drought in the last 35 years
but fortunately the weather forecast is good. Early raining season will start
in October to end the struggle. In meantime we try to help the wild life to
survive supplying water, grass and salt for lick. So far we had Giraffe, Oryx,
Kudu, Eland, Damara Dik Dik, Zebra, baboons. Unluckily, Adina, the game camera didn’t
pick up much so maybe it is time for a proper one, live streaming from the
waterhole.

the river bed ) , two days work and the waterhole is done as promised.
Quite a job but worth it. Sunset and whiskey as reward.

Back to farming
Great feeling to be back at the farm after few weeks and even better
when the planned jobs are done and everything is running smoothly.
We’ve finished the generator shed, planted a Macadamia nut tree behind the bakkie and some shade trees for the future swimming pool area, cleaned up and paint the fruit trees, spray them with organic fertilizer. The weather is ideal and the work gets done with great pleasure.
Regardless of severe drought in our area this year, the water level in the borehole is not dropping. So now is time to give something back, the next project: a water hole outside the fence with lick and feeding setup for the game.
....and I'm getting better at cooking too...
